Professional Development

LOUIS facilitates a wide range of professional development opportunities. These opportunities not only foster the professional growth of our members, they also ensure that members get the most benefit from the technology, services, and resources acquired through LOUIS.

Some of the regular training that LOUIS offers includes:

  • Professional certifications for System Administrators, Electronic Resources Administrators, and those interested in Digital Privacy
  • Webinars in our Learning with LOUIS series
  • A Video Showcase where we keep an archive of previous webinars
  • Our annual LOUIS Users Conference

Most of the professional development opportunities are created and led by members of our consortium sharing their expertise. This gives our membership the opportunity for professional presentation experience that helps prepare them for larger presentations such as at conferences. If you are a LOUIS member and have an idea for a presentation, please contact us at louislibraries@laregents.edu.

LOUIS Member Libraries also have access to Skilltype through their membership. Skilltype is a library talent platform that includes a training library with over 5,000 professional development on-demand trainings. To onboard your LOUIS library, contact us at louislibraries@laregents.edu, or read more about Skilltype here.

Additionally, LOUIS is a member of the Professional Development Alliance (PDA). The PDA allows members from different library consortia to participate in professional development sessions offered by other consortia in the PDA. The PDA opens many opportunities for our members to attend more and more diverse webinars, as well as to present to a more regional audience.
