Digital navigators are "trusted guides who assist community members with ongoing, individualized support for accessing affordable and appropriate connectivity, devices, and digital skills" (NDIA).

 

 

Updated Digital Navigator Definition and New Standards, National Digital Inclusion Alliance (2024)

  • Includes digital navigator standards and standards for programs that provide digital navigator services.

The Digital Navigator Model, National Digital Inclusion Alliance

  • Includes webinar recordings and digital navigator resources such as a job description (PDF, 321KB), skills assessments, forms, surveys, and much more.

Digital Navigators Toolkit, Salt Lake City Public Library

  • Partnership with NDIA, the Urban Libraries Council (ULC) and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) to bridge the digital divide in Salt Lake City through the launch of a Digital Navigators pilot project in the Fall of 2020. 
  • The goal of the program model was to provide one-to-one basic digital navigation services — connectivity assistance, device assistance, basic digital skills support — over the phone.

Digital Navigator Resources, DigitalUS 

Goodwill Digital Navigator Certificate Specialization (Coursera), World Education and Goodwill Industries International

  • self-paced 15-hour training program that provides participants with the skills, knowledge, and tools to effectively design and implement digital navigation services. Learn more.

Online Courses, Community Tech Network ($)

  • Training for digital navigators and their managers working in specialized fields such healthcare, libraries and with older adults.
  • All courses are fee-based except for the “Digital Navigators Overview”, which is free.

The ConnectedMN Digital Navigation Framework, ConnectedMN

  • New framework for Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) around Minnesota currently providing, or intending to provide, digital navigation services in their communities.
  • This framework is intended to recognize skills, attributes, and knowledge that people have and provide a roadmap for developing excellent digital navigators.
  • Developed by an alliance of public and private partners focused on connecting all students in Minnesota.
