Library Deans and Directors Convene for LOUIS Membership Meeting

by Rob Stephens on 2025-04-25T14:31:15-05:00 | 0 Comments

Twice a year, the LOUIS member library Deans and Directors convene to address significant agenda items affecting the consortium. These meetings provide valuable opportunities for members to share updates from their libraries and collectively determine the future direction of LOUIS.

At this week's membership meeting, the consortium discussed replacing the library services platform—the technology that manages the library catalog and discovery tool. After supporting the same product for over 20 years, the membership expressed interest in exploring alternative options, signaling an exciting time for change!

We were fortunate to receive updates from Dr. Susannah Craig on the legislative session and from State Librarian Meg Placke.

The meeting also included voting for LOUIS Executive Board positions. Our next chair will be Brian Sherman with Louisiana State University at Shreveport, and our chair-elect will be Angela Dunnington with Louisiana Tech University. We're also welcoming two new members-at-large: Dale Prince with Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans and Brian Doherty with University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
