Library Management: Overview

Library Management Technology

We implement intuitive, robust technology that allows participating members to successfully conduct and manage vital library operations. Symphony, a product developed by SirsiDynix, is the library management system implemented and supported by LOUIS. It provides next-generation, browser-based tools, as well as a desktop client.

This technology provides libraries the security and functionality needed to track library budgets, catalog resources for discovery, store user data, and manage the usage of library resources.

WorkFlows

WorkFlows is the desktop client for Symphony. It provides libraries the functionality to manage budgets, catalog materials, check materials in and out or place holds, and manage course reserves.  It also has integrated reporting tools and off-line functionality.

BLUEcloud

BLUEcloud is SirsiDynix's next-generation library services platform. The LSP brings all staff tools and library resources to the cloud with powerful apps for managing resources, discovery, fulfillment, and reporting.  We have implemented BLUEcloud Analytics, MobileCirc, and BLUEcloud Cataloging, but are currently testing and/or piloting other BLUEcloud apps.

BLUEcloud Analytics is a powerful reporting tool that provides libraries with flexible reports and dynamic visualizations.

MobileCirc is an app for mobile devices that allows libraries to take their circulation functions anywhere.

BLUEcloud Cataloging is a cloud-based cataloging tool that allows libraries to catalog resources from anywhere.

Add-ons

Symphony can be integrated with other tools that enhance the end-user experience.  We have implemented SMS notifications through SirsiDynix

SMS Notifications enhances the library's communication with its user community through text messaging.
