Affordable Learning with LOUIS: Affordable Learning Programs

Affordable Learning Programs

Interactive OER for Dual Enrollment

LOUIS’ Interactive OER for Dual Enrollment project, funded by a $2 million Open Textbooks Pilot Program grant from the Department of Education, supports the extension of access to high-quality post-secondary opportunities to high school students across Louisiana and beyond.

LOUIS OER Commons Faculty Cohort Project

The LOUIS OER Commons Faculty Cohort Program works to create an environment of supported and shared learning for faculty interested in exploring Open Educational Resources within their discipline.

LOUIS OER Commons is a repository of open educational resources aligned with the Louisiana Statewide Common Course Catalog. This repository also facilitates the creation of new OER by Louisiana educators.

Faculty Portal

The Faculty Portal provides a simple search interface for faculty to identify OER titles and content the library can purchase that can be provided free-of-charge to students in place of costly textbooks. Newly-available titles are added regularly.

Open Education Network

This alliance of higher education institutions works to move open education forward by promoting access, affordability, and student success through the use of open textbooks. The OEN workshop introduces faculty to open textbooks. LOUIS can help facilitate a workshop on your campus!

Course Transformation Program

This competitive program seeks to lower the cost of post-secondary education for students and contribute to their retention, progression, and graduation. Faculty replace existing textbook and/or course materials in a specific course(s) with no cost, open materials.
